The mark on the back of Marvo's head is something most summoned creatures have on Toanturf. The symbol represents the summoner in some way.

Pleht: I'm so sorry; Marvo isn't too fond of being grabbed.
Brudil: Ugh, no kidding.
Pleht: I do think you're tight, though.
Marvo is busy chewing the roots, still clearly annoyed with Brudil.
Pleht: *Ahem* Excuse me, Marvo? I know you two got off on the wrong foot, but can she lift you for a better chewing spot?
Marvo looks at them, then starts to move towards an expectant Brudil before veering off to tap on the lid.
Brudil: Um...
Pleht: Oh, of course!
